• Nataly Chilet (Chile) placed as a finalist in Miss Earth 2005 and a top six finalist in Miss Continente Americano 2007.

• Some delegates from Miss Universe 2008 pageant will also compete in Miss World 2008. Tansey Coetzee (South Africa) who placed as a semifinalist in Miss Universe 2008 will compete along with Alizée Poulicek (Belgium), Laura Tanguy (France), Alfina Nassyrova (Kazakhstan), Olivia Carey (Mauritius) and Amanda Ammann (Switzerland).

• Tamara Almeida Silva (Brazil) placed a first runner-up at Miss Maja Mundial 2006 and second runner-up at Miss Tourism Queen International 2007.

• Miss World 2008 was supposed to be held in Keiv, Ukraine on October 4th but it has been postponed over fears on the ongoing conflict between Russia and Georgia that could spread to the host country. MWO has informed all national directors that the pageant will be moved to another venue.
