June 1, 2008 - Nguyen Thuy Lam, a 21-year-old singer from Thai Binh province was crowned Miss Vietnam Universe 2008 last May 31st. She is currently a sophomore student at the Ho Chi Minh City Culture and Arts College. She speaks fluent English and German.

Thuy Lam beats 19 other participants during the finals event held in in Vinpearl Land resort, Nha Trang city in central Khanh Hoa province. She will represent Vietnam in Miss Universe 2008 pageant to be held in Nha Trang in July.

The 1st runner-up was Vo Hoang Yen and 2nd runner-up was Duong Truong Thien Ly.
