July 15, 2008 - Perak-born Audrey Ng, 22 years old, is the newly crowned Miss Malaysia - Earth 2008.
She beat 15 finalists for the title and a crown at the national-level pageant on Saturday.
She will represent her country at the international Miss Earth 2008 pageant.
"My friends have been behind me all the way. Even the dress that I wore in the final round belongs to a friend."
Realising that she has a responsibility to introduce Malaysia to the world, Ng said she would get more information about all the states, especially Malacca.
"I want to help Malacca achieve its target of 6.8 million tourists by year-end."
She said she would work with the state tourism promotional division to get her prepared for the finals.
The pageant at Everly Resort here also saw Jean Wong, 24, crowned as first runner-up, Jezamine Lim, 24, as second runner-up and Stefanie Chin, 21, as third runner-up.
State Tourism, Arts, Culture and Heritage Committee chairman Datuk Seet Har Cheow and Miss Malaysia Earth 2007 Dorcas Cheok were present.
