February 25, 2009 - Carlana Ramlochansingh will represent Trinidad & Tobago at the 2009 Miss Intercultural Pageant to be held in Washington DC on July 18th.
Carlana is a Trinidadian beauty of mixed heritage. She was born in the splendid city of San Fernando and is the first daughter to parents, Carol and Joseph Ramlochansingh.
Before earning a Regent’s Scholarship to further her education at the prestigious Morgan State University, Baltimore, Maryland, she attended at St. Augustine Girls’ High School.
Carlana has since graduated with honors, Magna Cum Laude, with a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology. While at Morgan State, she held several leading roles in both academic and cultural organizations, always using her talents and charm to educate others about the Trinidadian and Caribbean Culture.
Carlana is now pursuing her doctorate in Pharmacology at the “Mecca”, Howard University, Washington DC.
She has acted in short films, modeled for many Carnival bands and was also a finalist in the Miss Trinidad and Tobago New York Pageant.
Her future plans include establishing a scholarship fund for young women interested in pursuing science, bringing awareness to the herbal and natural remedies from the Caribbean and developing new drugs and techniques to fight diseases especially in the field of Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s disease.
Carlana still makes time to enjoy life whether she is spending time with family and friends, traveling or enjoying a good novel.
Carlana is the perfect delegate for the Miss Intercultural crown as the pageant seeks a global woman, with a passion to make a difference in the world by promoting leadership and excellence amongst the youth of the world.
Carlana is the sister of two time Miss Trinidad & Tobago, Carleen Ramlochansingh, who represented Trinidad & Tobago at both the Miss Caraibes Hibiscus and the Miss Earth pageants. Carlana hopes to continue Trinidad and Tobago’s success in pageants as well as showing that Beauty and Brains is a family affair. |
